While on holiday I used an app, new to me, to keep my Mum and the children up to date with our travels. Called Polarsteps it enabled me to post photos as we went along accompanied with a little commentary, effectively a blog which I wouldn't have dreamt of imposing on wider family and friends at the time. One of the exciting things about the app is it then enables you to turn it into a photobook, which we did with Malta and our in-between trip to Lisbon.
